  • I think an important step that you pointed out here David is interact with the blogger before asking them for something. I see too many people (and I was at the top of this list in the past) that start with an email asking for something. Sometimes it works but it's not cool nor a good way to build a relationship.
  • Great point. It is that whole give first thing :)
  • So I'm super late to comment, but I wanted to say great content David, as usual. I really like the raw format of the show and look forward to all the great tips you'll be sharing in 2010. Gotta catch up on past episodes now...
  • Erin - You are never late :)

Thanks for coming by. Check out the one posted mid-morning today on Twitter Lists.
  • "If you want some fluff go pet a bunny"
    Hilarious!

Great show David. As a blogger it is amazing how poor of a job of follow up people do. I've had several people approach me with proposals that I would have been more than willing to entertain, yet they drop the ball by a lack of follow up.
  • Roosevelt, the bunny sort of slipped out, haha.

    Totally true.
  • Everything looks great and you are excellent at presenting! Look forward to this journey!
  • Awesome, thanks Tanner. :)
  • Congrats on the new look website and the straight talking, straight shooting videos. Learned a lot from this and it's so timely as I was in the process of dropping you an email before Xmas - clearly I missed number 5 off the list - I didn't end up following up.

Can't wait to put this into practice and looking forward to more. As always David your energy and action is inspiring.

  • Thanks Natalie. How is everything up north? My email still works, haha. Hope all is well!
  • Entertaining and contains a healthy amount of easily applicable information. Excellent and RT'd.
  • Brett - I appreciate it. I think I may do a marketing run down of the NHL outdoor game for us hockey fans.
  • David, that was SUPER! I get what you are doing, I like it, you are not boring (thank goodness), and you get right down to what you want to get across... I look forward to all the knowledge you throw my way...Great Job!!! Andra :o)
  • Andra - Thanks for being such an awesome supporter.
  • Again - putting in "makes sense" terms is your style. You're becoming a total master at that! And you're still entertaining! Great way to introduce the sponsor relationships. Site looks great too - give Elizabeth a high five!
  • Thanks Dix, Elizabeth did a great job and then Nick was the coding hero spending countless hours.

I like your "makes sense analogy"...it makes sense :)
  • David,

Great start to the New Year! Enjoyed your first show and you hit the bullseye about 'always following up' and also 'knowing your niche!' Loved your saying "if you don't know the difference between a megabyte and a spider bite."

Here's to "TWENTY TEN", the Year of the Entrepreneur!

  • Thanks Adam and happy new year to you. I'll have to make sure to let our audience know about YE.com. A great resource.

Love it David... would love to come on one of your daily shows and do some type of thumb war smack down, or some other crazy sports thing :)

You are killing it! Love the content, and love the look.
  • Anytime my man. You come in town, you will be in.
  • I like the style, David. Should be a great resource.
  • Appreciate it, Gabe.
  • The new show looks great david! Looking forward to future episodes.
  • Thanks Russ. Look for us causing a ruckus every day M-F :)
  • Great way to start off RISE, David! Can't wait to see how things progress. Congratulations on the launch, and thanks for the Virtual Nerd shout-out!
  • Thanks Josh, looking forward to bringing all kinds of innovative programming :)
  • Great tips David.

It is about creating community/tribe/village whatever one wants to call it. And more importantly it is not about just leaving traces, it is about following up. As a network marketer, one of the reason I see people lose out because they don't finish what they start. In my case, after connecting with the prospect, they forget to follow up and close them up.

In personal branding, it is in the name. If you are a person who doesn't follow up but rather leave traces, people will see that you don't really give a crap about them but rather you want just promote yourself. Bad mistake.

I am very excited about what you built here and this is gonna be fun.

  • Thanks Roy,

Very true. That is true of ANY type of marketing. It isn't about mass (that is SO 90's ;). It is about building genuine relationships.

    Always appreciate your thoughts.
